Your website looks fine. So why isn't it getting you customers?

You've got a website. It looks decent. And yet it brings in almost nothing — no calls, no bookings, no new business. It's one of the most common frustrations we hear, and it almost always comes down to a handful of fixable reasons. Let's find yours.

A website that doesn't get customers is failing at one of two jobs: either nobody's finding it, or the people who find it don't act. Nail down which, and the fix gets obvious.

A website isn't a brochure that sits in a drawer. It should be your hardest-working salesperson.

Problem one: nobody can find it

The prettiest site on earth earns nothing if it's invisible. If you're not showing up when locals search for what you do, that's reason number one.

Reason 01

You're not built for local SEO

If your site isn't set up to rank for "[your service] near me," Google quietly hands those customers to competitors who are. Local SEO is what puts you on the map — literally.

Reason 02

Your Google Business Profile is neglected

For local searches, your Google Business Profile is often the first thing people see. Half-filled or ignored, it costs you clicks before anyone reaches your site.

Reason 03

You're relying on it to be found by accident

"Build it and they'll come" isn't a strategy. Without SEO or ads pointing traffic at it, even a great site just sits there.

Problem two: they find it, but don't act

Getting traffic and getting customers are two different things. If people are visiting but not booking, the leak is on the page itself.

Reason 04

It's slow, or awkward on a phone

Most visitors are on mobile. If it's slow or fiddly to use, they're gone in seconds — and they judge your business by it.

Reason 05

There's no clear next step

Your site describes what you do but never tells people what to do next. No obvious button, no reason to act now — so they don't.

Reason 06

It's hard to actually book you

"Call during business hours" loses the person ready at 9pm. Without online booking, you're making customers work to give you money.

Reason 07

It doesn't build trust

No reviews, no real photos, no proof you've done this before. Strangers don't hand money to a site they can't trust in four seconds.

The uncomfortable truth about "looks fine"

Here's the thing owners hate to hear: "looks fine" isn't the goal. Plenty of good-looking sites convert terribly because they were built to look nice, not to get customers. Design and results aren't the same thing — a site can be pretty and still be a leaky bucket.

What actually works is a site built backwards from the goal: get found, load fast, build trust, make the next step obvious, and make booking effortless. Every choice serves the customer taking action — not just looking good.

The good news: it's fixable

Nearly every reason above is fixable without starting your whole business over. We've built sites that do exactly this for roofers, renovators and installers — one roofing client saw $8.96 leads at a 10.7% close rate in a single month once the whole path was built to convert. Results vary and nothing's guaranteed, but the pattern is consistent: fix the leaks, get customers.

Our custom websites start at $30/month — built for local SEO, fast on mobile, and made to turn visitors into booked jobs. Want an honest read on why yours isn't pulling its weight? Send us the link and we'll tell you straight.
